About

Dr. Charlotte Kim

Dr. Kim grew up in both Ohio and in Seoul, Korea. As a six-year old girl, she noticed a sharp contrast between Ohio and Seoul in the 80s—while living in Korea, she really missed the nature and animals.

Later in her teen years, she was able to visit her hometown of Ohio again. One experience she recalls involves her parents’ friends as they were nursing a baby deer back to health with the help of a veterinarian. This amazing experience led the future Dr. Kim to pursue her dream of becoming a vet.

Coming back to the U.S. at the age of 17 was no easy task, however Dr. Kim persevered to pursue her dream. She eventually received her B.S. in Bioveterinary Science from Utah State University. Then, she graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.

Dr. Kim worked at various settings of veterinary medicine including a mixed-animal practice, exotic-animal practice, small-animal practice, emergency hospital and non-profit organizations seeking the best ways to provide service for people and their pets.

Dr. Kim’s passion for holistic medicine started after she lost her heart dog, Simba. As Simba aged, he struggled with arthritis, and Dr. Kim saw firsthand the challenges of caring for an elderly pet with limited treatment options in western medicine. This inspired her to explore holistic veterinary care to help pets live happier, healthier lives.

Dr. Kim acquired her veterinary acupuncture certification through IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society). She is currently enrolled in veterinary Chinese herbal medicine course through CIVT (College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies). Practicing acupuncture and learning about integrative medicine have been her newfound passion.

In her spare time, Dr. Kim likes to spend time with her husband, travel, hike, read, write, and snowboard.

Many people love their pets, but they don't know how to take care of their pets. It is heartbreaking to see pets at a veterinary hospital at the end stage of the disease, which could have been prevented with proper care.

Instead of looking for a quick fix when your pet gets sick, start looking at the WHOLE PICTURE of your pet. Has your pet been on highly processed food and treats? Is the pet chronically stressed? Is your pet exposed to secondhand smoke? Unless the underlying reason for the disease is addressed, our pets will continue to get worse. Medications will give some relief initially, but we need to get to the root of the problem. Natural food, exercise, and pain management are important steps to keep your pets healthy.

Pets give us so much joy and unconditional love. They deserve better. They depend on you. Be the best pet parent you can be.

The more you know,

the better you can take care of your pets.
